The Minneapolis Circus
Yet another catastrophe with plenty of blame to go around! ICE has gone overboard no doubt, but the city and state need to step up, help out and quell some of these protests. ICE has every right to arrest serious criminals. The city has no right to establish a sanctuary and protect these people. This is not a justification for the tragedies that have taken place. Peaceful protests are your right but if you want to martyr yourself by confronting these agents who are under considerable stress dealing with cold, verbal and physical abuse then you are risking jail or worse. If you think taking the moral or legal high ground is going to get them to relent, go ahead. If you think you can show up to these events with a weapon, fail to heed commands and confront these agents you are a consummate dumbass and you will be complicit in the outcome, no matter what! The bottom line is very clear. Like it or not, do what the agents tell you! Not obeying commands or worse engaging in a confrontation might be setting the stage for someone to make a serious mistake. There are plenty of mechanisms for complaints later on. Don’t be stupid.
The Iran Crisis:
Although interfering in other nations affairs is generally to be avoided, the exception being those cases where such interference may prevent harm to US interests or personnel. Iran has been funding terrorists for some time, sponsored the killing of Americans and no doubt would use a nuclear weapon to its advantage if capable. Bombing and interference to cause a change in regime is totally justified. So when is Trump going to quit talking about it and do something?
Immigration:
If there weren’t sanctuary cities and overaggressive enforcement, we would have far fewer problems with these raids. In any case Bill O’Reilly expressed a solution for undocumented aliens on News Nation. This idea was suggested on this site sometime back. 1. Arrest and deport only those who have criminal records. 2. Afford those undocumented aliens an opportunity to step up and register within some time limit and issue a temporary work permit. 4. Get in line and register for citizenship. 5. After expiration, deport any undocumented alien who did not step up and register. 5. All social security payments for those who step up shall be put into the social security general fund and no credit shall be given for such payments until they have achieved citizenship. This is a de facto fine, circumvents the amnesty objection by some in congress, and shores up Social Security It is really simple!
Greenland:
Taking Greenland by force would not be any different than what Putin has tried to do in the Ukraine. His excuse is that he doesn’t want a NATO country on its border and delusions of grandeur trying to resurrect the Soviet Union. If Putin were to take Ukraine he would have NATO countries on his border so where oes it end? There is a case to be made for a strategic interest in Greenland. So why not negotiate some sort of defense pact whereby we can put more military bases there. This is what Trump really wants in the first place and fortunately it seems to be on the table now.
